John thought it would be nice for me to write little short stories about our relationship, past and present. For anyone that knows John I’m sure you already know his personality is unique, therefore most of the stories I have that involve him are usually quite funny. With this task before me, I must be honest in that I have no idea where to start. I could tell you about the first time we met, our first date or the day he proposed, but none of those truly capture the essence of John T. Pressley. With that in mind I’ve decided for my first entry to discuss his quirks and funny nuances that make him not only a very special person, but also the love of my life and the only person that can always make me laugh no matter how bad I feel. For example, John accompanied me to my corporate Christmas party this past year. Knowing how he loves to dance I thought it would be fun to cut-a-rug out on the dance floor. While John is styling some of his smoothest moves, another co-worker of mine wanted to experience dancing with a Fred Astaire, rico suave dancer like JTP. John being the gentleman he is couldn’t leave a damsel in distress and agreed to dance with the lady. What I saw next has left my co-workers laughing to this day. John proceeds to dance in true “Elaine Bennis” style from Seinfeld. There were Karate kicks that were more beautifully executed than by the Karate Kid himself, pulling off of jackets, and twirling that could only be successfully performed by the world’s finest square dancers. Something else that makes John truly unique is his idea of a perfect date. John’s idea of a perfect date is a trip to the Waffle House, when they give him an extra large helping of hash browns, followed up by a nice long excursion to Mecca, a.k.a. Lowe’s. The first time John and I went out on this “perfect date” he was amazed that I wasn’t bored or put off by the experience. Especially when we spent literally 1 hour in the power tool section. If you could only see the way his eyes light up when looking at a Dewalt jigsaw, the Sun certainly isn’t brighter. I always know the way to put John in a better mood after a hard day is to take him on a field trip to Lowe’s or to find a nice home project for him to complete (as long as the home project involves him cutting a hole in a wall or ceiling). Then there’s the sensitive, thoughtful side of John T. Pressley. Like the time I had a horrible day at work and was so upset that I was in tears when I had called him to let him know I was on my way to his house. When I got to John’s house that evening he had bought me roses, gave me a glass of wine and asked me to relax in the living room while he finished dinner. That night we had a wonderful candlelit dinner prepared by chef JTP. After dinner John allowed me to pick a movie to watch and didn’t cringe too much when I picked out a wonderfully cheesy “chick-flick”. As I said before, anyone that knows John Pressley is well aware that he’s a great guy… nobody knows this more than me. |
